What is CBSE UDAAN Scheme?

The CBSE UDAAN Scheme is a project launched by the Central Board of Secondary Education under the support of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

Importance and aim of the UDAAN Scheme

The project is designed to provide the deserving girl students of class 11 with easy-to-understand & free online and offline study resources that will help them get prepared for engineering entrance examinations.

This project’s major focus is increasing the number of female students enrolled in prestigious engineering colleges in our country. Students are provided with better opportunities to enrich their learning, especially in subjects like physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

Objectives of the CBSE Udaan Scheme

» To address the low enrolment of female students in popular engineering colleges.

» To address the teaching gap between conventional school education and engineering entrance examinations.

» To facilitate aspiring students to pursue their technical education from the best engineering colleges in our country

» To nourish the teaching-learning methodologies at the Senior Secondary level.

Features of CBSE Udaan

» The Udaan scheme can help numerous (currently the limit set by CBSE is 1000) chosen female students free of cost to attend the engineering entrance exams.

» This scheme offers study material for preparation through an online portal  which include diverse study materials and tutorials.

» Around sixty centers located in major cities of India provide virtual classes for students.

» Eligible candidates can get tablet computers or monetary support to purchase those devices.

» The scheme provides certain assignments that are specifically designed to offer constructive feedback to students. It also ensures that necessary steps are taken to rectify students’ learning process.

» Under this Scheme, meritorious students are catered to with benefits like peer learning and mentoring.

» Motivational sessions will be conducted for both students and parents.

» Students can clarify their doubts with the use of student helpline services.

» The progress of the students is continuously evaluated and regular updates are provided to the parents. Parents can track their child’s learning progress using the student learning and support technology.

» The scheme can assist students in the application process for admission to engineering colleges.

» The scheme also brings other exciting offers. For example, suppose the beneficiary female student acquires a seat in a centrally funded Technical Education Institution like an NIT or an IIT and has secured a minimum of 75% in the Udaan classes. Then such a student is provided with financial aid in terms of admission fees, tuition fees, and hostel expenses.
